Notes from the Mainland
C-I Expands Operations at Home and Abroad Welcome to Underwater Currents. We are excited to share important news form C-Innovation (C-I), both at home and abroad. Our Brazilian operations continue to grow, and the C-I of Brazil team is working towards an exciting subsea construction announcement next month. C-I of Norway is also expanding with several remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in operation in the North Sea, as well as a number of new mobilizations planned for the near future. We would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our employees and vendors. You are the ones who help us to deliver the best services and products to our clients. If you have any suggestions for improvements, please feel free to bring them forth to your manager or me. Don't forget to send in your announcements of births, weddings and accomplishments through advanced training and certification to your HR department. ~Sandy Ying - sandy.ying@c-innovation.com - Projects Bringing Subsea Experience to Brazil In 2008, bringing a highly experienced team of ROV personnel. C-I's first Brazilian project was in November of 2009, deploying two ROVs on board the HERMOD, a semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV) owned by Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) based in the Netherlands. The scope of work included the installation of two fixed platforms in the Peregrino field for Statoil. In June of 2011, the Ensco drillship DEEP OCEAN CLARION arrived in Brazil with two C-I ROVs on board for a three-year exploratory drilling campaign contracted by British Petroleum (BP). In August of 2011, C-I began mobilization on board the anchor handling towing supply (AHTS) vessel OLIN CONQUEROR, owned by Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO). C-I's first task was to support anchor jobs on the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit, which will produce the first oil for OGX.
The ROV support vessel (RSV) JOE GRIFFIN, owned by ECO, is also supporting operations in Brazil. The JOE GRIFFIN, originally a platform supply vessel (PSV), has been converted to an RSV with the addition of a service winch, 10-ton crane, stern A-frame, additional accommodations, current meter system and an ROV system. The vessel has been contracted by Petrobras's subsea inspection and maintenance department for the next five years with the possibility of an additional five-year extension. While finalizing new contracts in Brazil, the C-I Brazilian team has kept busy supporting operations in the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea and, most recently, in the southern African region. Focus on Subsea Construction C-Innovation of Brazil is also diligently working to develop new subsea construction opportunities in the region. They are currently focusing on the preparation of a business structuring plan and negotiating partnerships with several successful companies capable of offering integrated service packages for subsea construction. Negotiations are slated to conclude by the end of September, allowing for an announcement to be made at the October Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Rio de Janeiro. Norway Operations Growing in the North Sea and Beyond The highly-skilled supervisory team at C-I Norway is busy overseeing the daily operations of multiple UHDs (Ultra Heavy-Duty Work Class ROV systems) throughout the North Sea and beyond.
UHD35 and UHD36 are operating on board the THIALF on the Ekofisk field in the North Sea, removing old platforms for Conoco Phillips. UHD38 and UHD44 recently arrived in Australia on board the HERMOD for a three-month job with Woodside for the installation of a new jacket and bridge to an existing platform. Three C-I UHDs are on contract for BP in West Africa. UHD33 and UHD45 are deployed on board the BALDER - a pipe lay and crane vessel nearing completion of a subsea installation at Block 31 - while UHD47 conducts testing and pipe surveys on board the survey vessel UNION MANTA.
In addition, C-Innovation of Norway is nearing completion on the mobilization of UHD59 and HD06 (Heavy-Duty Work Class ROV system) on board the ISLAND INTERVENTION, a drill ship owned by Island Ventures IV in partnership with ECO. C-I of Norway is actively working on closing all open items from the installation audit, while finalizing preparations for a new Christmas tree installation project for BP in the fields of Idun and Skarv, planned to commence later this month. |
